Tourist sights are popular for a reason, right? But the question is, are they worth seeing? When it comes to the world’s most famous tourist attractions, you have to ask yourself, are they worth seeing despite the crowds? Not all tourist attractions are going to be worth visiting but this is something that you are going to have to determine for you personally.
This weeks episode of the Passports and Coffee Podcast comes with a WARNING LABEL because we are giving our true and honest opinions about some of the world’s most famous tourist attractions. And guess what? We may have a controversial opinion about a very iconic monument. But you are going to have to listen to the episode to find out which monument doesn’t make the cut!
Let’s first make something very clear. All tourist attractions are worth visiting to someone but that doesn’t mean all of the tourist attractions are worth you visiting personally. And that is honestly the beauty of traveling. We all have different interests and we may think it is important to see all of the famous tourist attractions and other may not. So the answer to the question is not a simple yes or no. In fact, the answer is more complicated than that.
A lot of seasoned travelers will tell you to skip all of the famous tourist attractions and that is something that we don’t agree with. These world famous tourist attractions are popular for a reason and we believe you need to decide what is worth seeing based on the time you have in a location, what interests you and whether or not it is worth it to you depending on crowds, budget, etc.
So what should you consider to determine if a famous tourist attraction is worth adding to your itinerary. The most important factor is determining whether or not it is something that you really want to see. Are you heading to Paris and the Eiffel Tower is at the top of your bucket list? If you answered yes, then you should most definitely add it to your itinerary. Whether or not it will be worth going up the tower will be dependent on you. What are some other considerations?
There are two other considerations that we think is important for you to consider when determining if visiting a certain tourist sight is worth it. The first one being budget. Most of us have a budget that we stick to when traveling. Part of that budget is allocating funds to tourist attractions, but not everything makes the cut. To determine if an attraction will be worth it to you, you will need to consider the entrance free to the attraction. For example, you are traveling to Athens Greece and want to see The Parthenon but there is an entrance fee into the Acropolis. Is the entrance fee worth seeing The Parthenon up close or are you satisfied seeing it from afar?
Another thing to consider is the crowds. Popular tourist attractions will always be crowded and often times hard to avoid. Sometimes you can skip the crowds by being the first in line when an attraction opens but thats not always the case.
At the end of the day only YOU can determine if a popular tourist attraction will be worth it. Everyone has different interests in what they want to see and do while traveling. So if you think waiting in line to see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre is worth it, then do it!
We hope that you enjoyed this weeks episode of the Passports and Coffee Podcast. Let us know if you have ever visited a popular tourist attraction and felt like it wasn’t worth it. Don’t forget to tune in to another episode of the podcast!
