Let’s face it, we all have a country that we fell in love with and could travel to time and time again. For both of us, that country is Italy!
There is just something about Italy. From the history to the food, we have yet to meet someone who doesn’t love Italy.
We both love Italy so much, that we want to dedicate a full podcast episode to the country we love. This episode we share where we have traveled to in Italy and why we love this country so much.
Ok let’s talk all things Italy! We have both traveled throughout Italy hitting some of the most popular tourists sights like the Colosseum in Rome and the Rialto Bridge in Venice. But we have also visited some cities that never make travelers itineraries such as the Island of Ischia and Bologna.
So let’s talk about all of the places we have loved and the places that we don’t recommend.
Your co-host Cheraya visited Italy in 2020. It was one of those countries she needed to visit during her year abroad. She even planned her whole time in Europe around a major bucket list item in Italy. And that bucket list item is the Carnival of Venice.
She spent her time getting lost along the alleyways and joining in on the festive celebrations. She truly enjoyed her time in Venice.
But Venice was not the only destination she had planned on visiting while in Italy. She also explored Milan, Florence, Pisa and Rome.
Throughout our podcast episode, she stated that Milan was lack luster for her. But her main reason for visiting was to see the Starbucks Roastery.
Kayla has visited Italy on more than one occasion. Her first trip started in Rome and ended in Venice while hitting all of the sights in-between. Some of those in between stops included Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Verona, Bologna, and Sienna.
Spending a month in Italy had Kayla longing for more, so naturally she returned to Italy the following year, this time heading south to have a true Italian summer. Kayla’s second time in Italy included a return to Rome and then off to Naples to explore Sorrento, Positano, Ischia, Capri and Pompeii.
Kayla truly fell in love with Italy. Italy had such an impression on Kayla at a young age she claims it is the country that made her fall in love with travel.
Italy is such a well rounded country with something for everyone. Whether you are a foodie looking to explore Italy through your stomachs or you are a history buff, Italy is the perfect destination to make everyone happy.
So what exactly do we recommend if you are planning a trip to Italy?
Cheraya will tell you to visit Venice for Carnival. She enjoyed all of the amazing festivities and atmosphere. But she thinks if you are visiting Venice, you should explore the surrounding islands like Burano and Murano.
Kayla’s recommendation will be to explore the lesser known cities to experience the true Italy. Some of the cities that she recommends is the island of Ischia, Sorrento and Bologna.
When in Italy, you also need to indulge in all of the amazing food. Italy has some of the best cuisine we have ever had. And what pairs well with all the pasta and pizza? Wine! If you are planning on visiting the Tuscany region, you need to partake in a wine tour. It’s an absolute must!
Our hope for this episode is for you to virtually travel with us through our memories as we talk all things Italy. Not only will you get to hear some of our untold travel stories but you will also get to hear our recommendations for Italy.
If you have not traveled to Italy yet, we hope that we inspire you to book your next trip to Italy!
Hi travel besties! It's Kayla and Cheraya, your co-hosts of the Passports and Coffee Podcast. We are fellow corporate world millennials looking to escape the 9-5 and are encouraging you to do the same.
